Six questions to ask about a fleet washing and charging agreement

Before choosing a supplier for your fleet, ask these six questions.

A washing and charging agreement may look simple on paper. What matters is how it works when a driver needs help during a shift.

Ask these questions of every supplier you consider, including us.

1. What does it cost as your fleet grows?

Get prices in writing and ask how they change with usage and fleet size.

Ask which prices can change during the agreement and how much notice you will receive.

2. How do you pay and obtain receipts?

Ask how payments are handled, how many receipts you receive and whether usage is broken down by car.

Being able to download receipts yourself saves time requesting documents each month.

3. Who can use the account?

Ask whether you can add and remove drivers yourself or need to contact the supplier.

Check how quickly access can be removed when a driver leaves.

4. What happens when a card runs out mid-shift?

An empty balance at two in the morning can interrupt a driver's shift. Understand how top-ups work before this happens.

  • Can you top up immediately?
  • Can you check balances before they run out?
  • How does the driver know the balance is low?
  • Can the driver pay another way as a backup?

5. How much capacity is available?

Ask how many charging points and wash bays there are, not just the highest charging power.

Check whether drivers can see current availability before travelling. Waiting time is a cost that does not appear on the price list.

6. Do opening hours suit your fleet?

A fleet operating at night needs services available at night. Ask which services are open and whether staff are on site.

Find out who drivers should call when something stops working.

Our answers

Wash cards have balances you top up in the business portal, where you can view usage and receipts per card and manage access. Charging has a separate fleet rate and payment account in Current. Both sites are open 24/7, and the website shows available charging points.

Ask us all six questions. We will answer them in writing.
