How to wash your car properly, step by step

Give the products time to work and rinse carefully. Here is how to use our self-service wash bays.

A good wash starts by loosening dirt before rinsing it away. Rushing this stage can leave grime on the paint.

Grit can scratch paint if rubbed against it. Use the spray guns to loosen and remove dirt without scrubbing.

1. Apply degreaser

Apply degreaser to the rear and sides, up to the mirrors and windows. Give it 5 to 10 minutes to work.

Pay attention to the lower doors and wheel arches, where road grime collects.

2. Treat stubborn road grime

Degreaser removes road tar, oily residue and winter road salt that foam alone may not remove.

Let the product work, but do not let it dry on the paint.

3. Apply foam and wait

Apply foam over the degreaser. Allow 3 to 5 minutes for it to loosen dirt.

Use the waiting time to empty the car or remove the floor mats.

4. Avoid rubbing grit into the paint

The wash bay has separate spray guns for degreaser, foam and high-pressure rinsing. The equipment is ready to use in the bay.

5. Rinse from the bottom up

Hold the nozzle 20 to 40 cm from the car and work upwards. Finish with a pass from top to bottom.

Keep the nozzle moving and avoid holding it close to trim or decals.

6. Rinse wheels and wheel arches

Brake dust and road grime collect around the wheels. Give these areas extra attention.

The pressure washer reaches between wheel spokes without touching the paint.

7. Check for soap residue

Rinse carefully around mirrors, lights and door frames. Soap left behind can dry into marks.

8. Dry the car

Use the air gun to remove trapped water from mirrors, trim and locks.

After washing, move your car to a charger and let it dry while it charges.
